Dang, I'm more interested in the bidirectional charger that they got next to the truck. FTL guys need to take a picture of that piece of kit instead of the truck hah.

I think Sunpower is GM's partner for V2G/V2H bidirectional EVSE stuff. I'd love to learn if I can jam the EVSE breaker on a solar/ESS generation panel and have the EV discharge on demand in order to charge my batteries or power the home loads. If the bi-directional charger could be configured like Sunpower's other hardware, it could appear as "solar generation" to the existing system.

@HawaiiEV, you think any of this is possible? Basically the GM BEV could become a backup-backup energy source to a home microgrid?

It’s possible, but nothing so graceful is coming soon. Expect it to work like a transfer switch.

P.S. Not everything is the manufacturer’s fault failing to come to market, the utilities are sticklers for what electrical generating facilities get hooked concurrently to the grid. So the solution will come from one of the larger hybrid inverter manufacturers.
