I had my eye on the Lightning for quite awhile. But I never really looked into Ram, GMC’s, Rivian, Tesla. Once I realized that the Lightning list was closed I came across the Silverado. The Silverado was just one that I was alert enough to get a reservation for. But as time goes by I am liking it a lot.

I guess I feel it will it will have a uniqueness due to that Avalanche vibe. I like the option of the midgate. I think vis a vis the GMC the price will be more affordable. The bed’s a bit bigger I think than a couple of those. The unibody might make the drive more carlike. Which being a realist I am a guy who drives mostly pavement and tows a boat a couple times per year.

Can anyone add things they like about it?

It’s the most appealing to me of all the options, by far. Despite my worry I’m priced out, I’m still looking forward to actual production. I like the way it looks aerodynamic and new. I loved my Escalade EXT for the same reasons, the versatility of the midgate, the refined ride of the coil springs compared to the leaf springs on the Silverado. I expect an equally superior ride to the current crop of framed trucks along with the same versatility. They are also leading in range and charging which is very important for EVs to catch on. In addition to the price I have some reservations about the LG pouch cells and I’m hopeful they switch to 4680’s. Also I never underestimate GMs ability to mess up, my friends been waiting 8 months for his suburban.

re: 4680’s for the Silverado. Not likely. Pouch cells are a done deal for all US GM Ultium -based EVs for the next three years. Lordstown Ultium in production, Spring Hill Ultium due to start production Q4 this year, Lansing has broken ground, start Q4 2024. All plants engineered for Ultium GM/LG NMCA pouch cell production.

Anything prismatic or cylindrical will be w/ Samsung SDI/GM partnership, at a MI location not even announced yet. That plant at its soonest would not enter production until Q4 2025.

New LG MNCA is supposed to be cheaper and mass production due to using 90% nickel and less than .5% cobalt. The longevity of battery is questionable.
Why do you believe NMCA cell longevity is questionable? Research suggests NMCA is projected to have numerous superior qualities - including higher heat stability, less micro-cracking and a higher cycle-life - than 811 NMC or 811 NCA cathode materials used in numerous other current-generation EVs.

Just being new. Nothing offensive being one of waiting for my $42K truck
