I am anxious to know more details about the WT too. I am thinking we will have more details in the next 6-8 months.

At the moment we do not know much of anything.

• production capacity in the 1st year?
• trim level allotments and release schedule
• # of reservations
• build criteria (configuration, location, dealership, ect…..)
• Trim level pricing
• Final design of the Silverado EV that includes WT, RST and mysterious Trailboss.

The list goes on.

I actually like the WT style more than the RST which is too bling. Especially the front, it’s more about business and no flashy light bar. But I doubt I’ll be able to get a WT with a midgate option.

Aside from the obvious lack of exterior and interior dress-up items, the WT also will apparently be standard with a smaller pack making about 250 miles of range when unloaded. Also likely no mid-gate and tuned for less overall power and torque.

The question is, how much will they charge to upgrade to the 400 mile pack? Ford gets $21k to upgrade range by 70 miles. Will GM charge $30k or more to upgrade range by 150ish miles? If so this WT suddenly became impractical and not worth the money.

I'm okay with 250-300 mile base battery, though. Another 100-150 miles will definitely not be worth 20-30K to me. 8-10K maybe, but anything on top of that is out. Pure speculation at this point, of course.

From what I have read to date, no midgate for the WT unless GM decides in the future to include the option on the base level truck. One will likely need to order a trim level a step or two up to permit the midgate option, but something below an RST. For me, it's all going to depend on the price point for the minimum trim level with the midgate either part of the package or available as an option. The whole idea is to have an architecture with a reconfigurable bed design that will permit 8' long or longer cargo securely retained within the confines of the vehicle. I might as well opt for one of the many EV SUVs heading to the market if I had to settle for a pick up with an enclosed box of less than 6'.

As an owner of a Mustang Mach E for 15 months, 15k miles and a base range of 230 miles in the summer and a staggering 170 miles in winter months, I will not get a base range next ev with anything less then 300 plus.

Our EV6 realistic base range in summer is about 250 miles and does not take much to knock it down. It is plenty of range for around town as we are fortunate enough to own a home and can charge at home.

However, I agree that 300+ range is a must for traveling. Our R1T has a realistic range of 290-300 miles in summer and is what we use for longer trips but 400+ would be better.

I think in the next 9-18 months we will see considerable growth of the EV charging network along with some reduction in charging times. This will lead to more frequent charging as charge ports should proliferate to restaurants, malls, grocery stores and so on. Interstate rest stops hopefully will also have charging ports.

We are still in the very early stages of EV adoption.

I think folks looking for a mid - high $40k WT (before dealer prep, sales tax and ADM) Silverado EV will be disappointed unless they intend to use it as intended…. as a local daily driver work truck. These will be produced in low volumed and in short supply.

300+ miles, mid-gate and cloth or vinyl seats will be in the mid-high $60k, maybe a bit more. Oh and no 4 wheel steering.

The premium RST late summer 2023 must be one really decked out truck coming in at $106k before prep, taxes and ADM.

I sure hope you are wrong. I really wish they would release some basic trim information soon, like they have with the blazer. If I can’t get a well equipped model with midgate for 50-60 I’m out. I don’t have to have the largest battery pack or screen, four wheel steer and air suspension, but I want something more then the bare bones interior and a midgate. If the WT starts at $40k, better equipped with midgate should start at 50k.

I hope you are right and that I am wrong.

My estimates are pulled from mostly thin air. When Ford first started production their WT was produced in low volume for roughly $40k and were bare bones. Given price increases for most car manufacturers, continued inflation and supply issues it is easy to imagine continued price increases.

I do hope I am wrong but you may want to reconsider your maximum price point.

How long are you willing to wait once you place your order? I suspect it will be 9-18 months depending on configuration, production capacity, parts supply, dealership and ……..

My Mach E is great around town and the 2 hr north to my mom's house (I had her install a 240v in the garage), and 2 hrs South to my son in school as they have 1 fast charging station. At this point I'm very disappointed in Ford and will change to Chevy, I plan to sell or trade my Mach E and sell my Ram 1500 which means I may buy the RST, but still not sure. I have zero confidence the WT will be available with the greater range, Chevy will copy Ford's lead in this respect

Hopefully the charging network will build out significantly over the next 1-3 yrs.

I also live in an area with almost zero charging ports over long distances. In two years, when ordering of Silverado EVs begins, if there are not more L2 and L3 charging ports then I will seriously consider an affordable trim level that provides 400+ range.

Please, someone correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like 400 miles of range will only come on a Silverado EV 4WT at a cost of more than $80,000. Most of us never expected a $39,900 MSRP EV WT base model to have 400 miles of range and many would be willing to pay a little bit more for it -...
