I tow a 5th-wheel RV with my current Ram 2500 diesel pickup. I'd like to get rid of that rig and sometimes use the Silverado for towing an RV. But the current camper weighs about 13K. I'd consider getting a smaller rig, but would want a toy hauler for taking along the motorcycle. Not sure if I could find something that would be suitable.

I need a lot of info about the Silverado's real-world experience, and am concerned about range limitations and finding charging locations for a big rig. I'd also like to know what campgrounds, like KOA, have in mind for charging EV rigs.

I'd watch a YouTube channel around this. How is the charging network growing and what is the quality of it? What effect does towing have on an EV? TFL has done some range comparisons with small trailers, and it's comparably dismal to ICE. If there's a reliable hi speed charging network, then it's not as much of a pain...

From my understanding depending on how much you tow you should expect to get about half the normal range. That's about what happens with other EVs that have been tested.

For example Motor Trend towed a 9000 pound trailer with the Rivian R1T and got a range reduction of 45%. They went from a 314 mile range to 170 miles.

Towing roughly 9,000 pounds with a Rivian R1T reduced our driving range by 45 percent on average, slightly better than Rivian's estimate of a 50 percent reduction when towing the maximum 11,000 pounds the truck is capable of. Our range dropped from an EPA-estimated 314 miles to as low as 170 miles. For context, that's 30 miles farther than a standard Nissan Leaf can cover on a single charge but less than most other EVs.

I will be towing a utility trailer like this for work and recreation related stuff. Trailer along will be 1,500-2,000 pounds.

I don't have any towing plans, but my brother is interested in the WT with the 20k lbs towing for his marine service business. He works on larger outboard boats that generally range between 10k-20k lbs but hardly ever tows more than 20 miles.

He currently has a 2020 Duramax 3500 HD.

Right now just tow an open car trailer for race weekends, about 5k lbs or a utility trailer for home projects (hoping not to need that as much anymore). Planning on upgrading to 24-28 ft enclosed by the time I would have the truck. Would be 7-8k lbs then.
