my 24 rst was due for its first tire rotation, been reading
about software updates than cant be done at home, dealer only. dropped truck off today to be looked at tomorrow, service rep tells me they wont do any updates that are not required or part of a recall, I would have to pay for them, such as the crab walk, and I thought there was an update that would show side views when directionals are on? anyway
is that true> thought I have read they would be done free?

thanks

Time to find a new dealer...

If you bring it in just for an update, then they won't do it unless it's a recall. They may charge if you bring it in only for a non recall VWP. However, they are supposed to do a VWP under warranty during a service visit for any other warranty issues.

They don't want to update the software because GM doesn't pay for it.

Tell them about any random bugs you've noticed in the software like screen freezes, dropped bluetooth connections, etc., and that you want the software to be updated so it's working properly.

The dealer can then bill it to GM as a service item.

Actually, in 24-NA-143 it has information on how to put in the warranty codes. They do get paid for it.

I have never heard so many hostility messages from GM dealership requiring to get paid for software update or VWP ...
What is going on between GM and some of their dealerships ?
It is beneficial to both parties to run the latest software updates...including bug fixes and operational battery and other modules software improvments...
Even if you are beyond initial 36,000 miles so, What am I missing ?
I would call the EV concierge and verify if there is an ounce of truth in what dealership claims.

Pretty much all dealerships of all makes have a lot of hate for EV.

well on top of as of now their refusal to do updates non related to problems, they havent
even worked on truck yet let me rant for a minute

3 weeks after leasing truck i got a lot error messages, High voltage, suspension etc
being an EV newbie spoke to ev concierge who said take it to dealer. I explained to dealer
messages, truck works fine, but has these messages, this was on a tuesday. drop truck off tues night to be worked on wed, long story short no call on wed, no call on thursday. I call
on friday afternoon I am told no one has worked on it yet, they didnt have an on staff EV tech and the one they usually use couldnt show up til monday I lose my mind for at minimum not calling me and no loaner. they get tech in on sat and give me truck back, nothing done im sure still get same messages. 6 months later (2 weeks ago) after reading about all these new updates are available I make an appointment for today to rotate tires and get these updates
I tell rep about last time, no techs, he assures me they now have 2 on staff, i say please dont book appointment unless it can be done that day. I drop truck off last night, again have conversation make sure you have a tech and to do all updates, this is when I get told they cant or wont do Updates, (reason why I started this thread), anyway no call today,
I call at 3:30 and am told no one has worked on it yet, lose my mind again, hang up called
EV concierge to start complaints to GM, Concierge called dealer, I immediately get a bullshit phone call from service manager apologizing to me, How hes not supposed to but will try to get updates done for free tomorrow, not a happy camper. explain to him shit happens, but at minimum by 12 or so I should have gotten a call explaining situation and that not to expect truck back today but got nothing (Horrible dealer)

thanks for listening

Someone needs to start a thread about "ANTI-EV GM dealership to avoid contact at all cost " , as this is a repeated pattern by many dealership and it is not only GM dealership apparently. Anti-EV propagenda is real amongst legacy auto.

Well, it is also the dealers selling people EV's without any explanation of how to charge/ manage and introduction of the car etc. It kills me to read posts on Facebook and here about people complaining about costs to charge an EV at public charging stations, when they don't even have a home charging option.

I can honestly say I only have used public stations 4 times in 6 months and only charge enough to get home comfortably. With Tesla at $.50 per kw and Electrify America at $.62 per kw vs home at $.23 per kw, I am amazed at this. I am also amazed that people buy things with no research or reading the manual even.

got truck back today , well guessing complaint worked literately got a phone call 6 minutes after rep texted me they got in touch with dealer, they did all updates, didnt charge for the tire rotation. never going back to dealer, not that im expecting any other local dealer to be better, NY people suck, wish i moved years ago. anyway got crab mode, the directional triggering side cameras is a game changer for older drivers and high traffic areas like long island, love it.
are there any other major updates I didnt notice? other than improvements?

coincidence or not but my voice recognition is screwed up. names I ask it to dial for months now makes errors

thanks for advice people still gonna continue to follow up with my complaints about dealer as far as I can, still very unhappy especially with vehicle being close to $120K with tax and being treated so badly
my dealer is also a Cadillac dealer. I told service rep my truck is well into cadillac pricing and I guarantee you dont treat them the way you treated me,they wouldnt stand for it.
He gave me the deer in headlights look

it is a division and propagenda epidemic from any angle you look at it, social illiteracy, indifference to the well being of another human being and fake everything , unless you are like a CEO who get compensated as if you win a lottory ticket every other year the gap between 1% and 99% is only getting worse each year ... I do not expect roses come out of it ? do you ?
