I'd like to start a thread for first-hand reports of real-world towing.
Are there any free services with the gm app? I just got a call from on star wanting me to pay 39.99/mo LMAOGM is aware of the app issues with Ultium vehicles, they have a lot of optimization to do. Lyriq has gotten a lot better since it was released.
Does this apply to the work truck or just rst?Purchasing the Silverado will get you several services free for 8 years.
I agree with you. Seems really dumb since most people can do the hotspot via their phones. I dont see the value in onstar myself, but apparently enough people do since they put the equipment on most every vehicle they sell.My RST is a month and a half old. I have not been plagued with ads or OnStar solicitations. However, I thought my wifi hotspot was broken and the dealer was going to charge me $200+ just to diagnose it when the actual problem was that I was past 30 days of ownership. Maybe Service would have figured that out before they charged me, but we told them to NOT diagnose it. Then we realized later why it wasn't working.
The wifi hotspot is a nifty idea, but I pay for unlimited data on my phone, which can also make a hotspot. They say the truck's antenna will get better reception than my phone, but I didn't see any noticeable difference. I bought that equipment in the truck, you'd think I should be able to tap into the antenna, if it really is better, to boost my cell phone without having to pay OnStar. Paying for the wifi hotspot in the truck, which I may only use a few times a year, seems silly. We ran a laptop with video conferencing all through the Nevada desert from a phone hotspot with no glitches.
Its nothing but a money grab. BMW tried to for a while with the heated seats, but the backlash was more than they could take and had to back track. BMW drops plan to charge a monthly fee for heated seatsThey put the equipment on every vehicle they sell because it gives them important data about every vehicle they have on the road. It was actually a smart move and great investment by GM, but they are trying to recoup that investment with subscriptions. I'm not mad at them, but I haven't found a service yet to make me want to pay the subscription fee. We'll see if that changes in the future. I am getting very used to the google maps, but I think i have that for 8 years, so a while before I pay.
By the way, BMW is starting to charge to enable heated seats and heated steering wheels post sale. It's just a different way for OEMs to try and make money and also follow megatrends such as netflix, hulu, etc. Many people pay subscription fees and forget about them being automatically charged. The car world is hoping for a similar thing.
how many pounds are you pulling?Since we have no reliable estimate of arrival State Of Charge (SOC) and are constantly doing our own calculations while traveling with our travel trailer, I am consistently coming up with a battery size of 240 kWh as a base for our 4WT. I have been using 210 kWh in my calculations and am constantly underestimating range. When I back calculate actual range to battery size it is 240 kwh.
Additionally, with two cold weather, 30-40F, trips pulling our travel trailer, we are getting 0.7 miles/kwh. As reference, we get 0.9 miles/kwh in warm weather.
Absolutely. My Dump trailer is the same way. Its big, tall and square6,500. I think aero is a bigger energy consumer than weight.
