⁸ 2024 Silverado EV RST anticipated availability early 2024.
Cybertruck coming at end of 2023 according to Elon. I’m not crazy about the way it looks, but it’s growing on me while my interest in the Silverado is cooling. It seems as though price and range will be the deciding factors, as it seems GM will gate keep with the midgate. I know the cybertruck will be a lot more efficient and that’s a huge factor people are not discussing now. Funny how the talk went from cybertruck never coming, GM and Ford going to do what they do best, to now who knows but I’m betting Tesla impresses.

As someone who had in their garage 3x Powerwalls, 2x Red Teslas (2022 P3 and 2023 MX with white interiors), 2x Tesla Wall Connector EVSE's, and a rooftop covered with solar to charge the BEV's...

I advise against buying a Tesla. They simply refuse to support their products. When their tech works, it's amazing. When their tech fails you... they treat you like absolute trash.

It's not worth the investment of your hard earned money to be treated like an absolute idiot customer by Tesla reps. Our red Model X kept shutting down while being driven. We'd be driving with our 2 kids in the back to a casual Sunday brunch, and suddenly the car spits out a dozen error messages and then requested us to pull over. Tesla told us they didn't know the root cause of this type of error, but it's not a big deal since having to pull over is totally fine and an issue that could affect all cars. Not cool Tesla. Not cool.

Do not be like me. Do not buy from Tesla.

I would say your mistake was putting all your eggs in one basket. I’m sure Tesla will help you if you squeak the wheel right, it’s under warranty and I wouldn’t take just one answer about the issue and roll over. I’m sorry to hear you are having issues, I expect they can be resolved. Tesla is not known for their support that’s for sure, they are new and without dealerships. I was not impressed with the experience when I picked up my Tesla, I don’t expect great service. We are happy with our Toyota dealership, they own the Chevy dealer too.

It’s to be expected that new EVs are going to have countless unforeseen issues you wouldn’t get in your typical Toyota, despite people arguing there’s no maintenance or service required. I’ve read about more than a couple Hummer EVs having issues leaving them stranded by the side of the road. They are new, complicated and dependent on software. Just be glad you never bought a 1996 Ford Windstar.

The problem is not anything I did.

They doubled down and told me having a car for 5 days only to see it in the shop for 30 is normal. Zero apology for a bad experience. Service general manager told me to not buy Tesla again. They’re doing a buyback but we need to get the plates from the DMV first.

I’ve already picked up an ICE Mercedes GLS. Between GM not refunding the $100 EV deposit and Tesla being garbage… ICE sounds pretty good.
I’m not sure a luxury German brand will be more reliable, although their dealerships will treat you better.

Crazy evil dealerships!
It appears Tesla still doesn’t even have the CT’s required 4680 cells or their production lines fully designed yet. Also, it seems Tesla is hesitant about doing “real” extended on the road/dirt testing. Almost all spy shots are at or near either Giga TX or the Fremont plant in either static display or driving in controlled and mild situations. Tesla’s lead battery engineer made an effort to do a bit of off-roading w/ one in Austin…got stuck in the mud…perhaps an apt metaphor for the entire CT program.
