I received an email today inviting me to reserve RAM 1500 EV, which I promptly did.

According to my email reservations began today at 8am and close 2/28/2023.

Anyone else in line for the RAM EV?

Yea, I received an email invitation also to get on the reserve list to order a RAM EV by submitting my $100. Here's the email message I received, looks like in 48 hours it'll open up to the public...

Another "me too!" from Ram.

Reservation programs are stupid. Dealerships are even more asleep at the wheel on EV buying experience. A brand that mixes the two is stupidity squared. Not making that mistake a third time, thanks.

I agree with you completely. The reservation system is first and foremost a marketing tool to gauge interest providing little if anything for the customer. Dealerships are a lobbied legislated third party that have their hand in you pocket while providing nothing but confusion.

For $200 I have a Silverado and now a RAM reservation as a backup plan with very low expectations.

Don't get me wrong, if Ram makes good on finally bringing a decent EREV truck to the US, it will go on my shopping list. I think EREV pickups from OEMs are at least half a decade overdue by this point, of not a full decade. Not quite too little too late, but getting darn close. I'll definitely give it a fair shot against whatever else has made it to market by then, though.

Just not interested in the reservation malarkey anymore.

WHAT DOES THE $100 PAYMENT COVER?
For a one-time $100 fee, you become a Ram REV Insider+ member and as such, you will receive your place in line to preorder a Ram 1500 REV, exclusive invitations to events and experiences such as first looks and first drives, and news and information about the future of Ram electrified trucks.

I hope it would count toward the truck but the FAQ doesn't make that clear.

I am thinking that “you will receive your place in line to pre order” is speak for reservation. But I could be wrong.

If I cancel a reservation it will be the Silverado EV as I like the RAM design better.

Reserved a Ram EV, Chevy Silverado. Purchased a Ford Lightning and if these next trucks come anywhere close to the Ford everyone will love them. Good luck getting reservation deposit or your yet unknown ordering deposit included in the deal. Ford charged $500 to order. I’d expect Chevy and Ram to charge at least $1000 to order depending on reservation numbers. My suggestion is to let your dealer know if they don’t include both deposits on the purchase your post sale survey will definitely be negative. My Ford dealership sent a check after delivery for the $600 instead of including the deposits in the deal. There must be an accounting reason. Took 462 days from reservation to delivery for my ford.

The RAM one seemed more 'join a club' than 'get a slot for a vehicle' and to be honest, it's not 2018 anymore and I'm done registering for a car that won't be here for two or more years.

That and the 'here's the truck' vs 'the concept you signed up for' are too different for my taste, I wanted the wild RAM EV with suicide doors not a truck with an electric motor dropped in it.
