Not surprised. The Bolt brand has been significantly wounded by the LG battery fiasco and there will be challenges recovering from this after regular production resumes. As a Bolt owner, I'm very pleased with the car overall with exception of its current Leaf-like range due to an interim software fix that limits charge capacity to 80%. Well, that and the winter weather with cabin heating requirements that reduces range on any EV.

The other factor is the financial reality. Pickup trucks, ICE or EV, are big profit generators for the manufacturers compared to passenger vehicles/small CUVs. Yes there is a notable material cost difference between a Bolt and Silverado, but a relatively minimal difference in total labor costs. GM can sell a basic trim level Silverado EV for $50K with minimal or no incentives, or a Bolt EV for $34K that they may have to discount to move. If I was a major shareholder with the company, I know what my say would be.
