Going forward guess you don't need to think about what options you want/need at the time you order your vehicle. You can subscribe to them afterwards. 🤦‍♂️

Doesn't necessarily sound a lot, but just like with all subscriptions, that's just starting price. Next year it will go up x%, the year after another x% and so on and so on. Pretty soon you'll be paying 2-300 every month for something you used to be able to just pay once and be done. Guess I'm too old-school to think that sucks, but what ever.

I sort of get the subscription thing if what you are buying is nothing but software related features. If it has something to do with enabling electrical things (such as seat heaters, for example) that have already been installed to work, it's nothing but shafting the customer. Unless there is an option to purchase the option (just like in the old days: put a check mark in the box) when buying the vehicle to have it permanently enabled.

One example is supercruise which will cost $25 a month, the motion eye chipset in the truck already supports lane tracing like my wife’s Toyota but that won’t be enabled so they can force people to pay for supercruise. Already leaving a bad taste in my mouth, Kia, ford, Nissan, etc… all enable the hardware feature of lane tracing even though ford for example would like to upsell to bluecruise.
