According to GM Authority Chevy is goingt o be redesigning the Silverado EV's door panels before production.
Silverado EV Executive Chief Engineer, Josh Tavel told them that the door panels will have door panel storage similar to the gas powered Silverados.
Not too long ago, GM Authority had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV at the New York International Auto Show, including a detailed look at the upcoming electric truck’s interior. Since then, we’ve learned that the door panels seen inside the truck shown at the auto show won’t be featured on the production model. Instead, they will be redesigned.
In an interview with GM Authority Executive Editor, Alex Luft, Silverado EV Executive Chief Engineer, Josh Tavel, explained that the door panels inside the truck will be redesigned before the vehicle reaches production. Specifically, the Chevrolet Silverado EV interior door panels will receive a redesigned lower compartment with dividers and cut-outs for storing things like water bottles and other items. It will be similar to the door panel storage compartments found in the ICE-powered Silverado.
Look closely and note that the door panels on the model being displayed don’t feature any compartments and are instead uninterrupted and not divided. While aesthetically pleasing, the lower panel has little utility the way it’s currently implemented. There is certainly room to include a sectioned storage bin in the lower part of the door panel, so it will be interesting to see how Chevy chooses to integrate the compartment while maintaining the sleek interior design language of the 2024 Silverado EV.
