I know this concept has been out there for a while, but to my knowledge has not yet been discussed on this forum. What do you think about the idea of electric motors on trailers to extend the driving range of an EV towing a trailer? I find it fascinating how the RV industry is now actively looking for ways to adapt to the evolving EV towing future. What will be the technical, cost-related and practical challenges?

what makes sense is to design lightweight super aero-stream type trailers + matching bed cowlings that turn the entire truck/trailer combo into one aerodynamicly efficient unit. Long-haul semi/trailer rigs are increasingly doing this w/ gap-fillers between the cab back and trailer front, trailer belly fins to reduce under-belly air drag, and tapered tail tabs at the trailer rear-end. The key to sustainable towing is to put more tech/money in improved tow vehicle/trailer combo efficiency, not in more brute-force motors and cell kWh. The easy brute force solution is how we got into this enviromental mess in the first place.

I dunno people seem to like having batteries in their trailers anyways. Might as well use them, more. I am mildly amused to hear about the solution to climate change in semi truck styled campers. Sounds dramatic.
