Check out this up close look of the Silverado EV
The WT was always going to be first, but only for fleet buyers. Regular customers have to wait for the RST First Edition next fall, then other WT/RST trims the following springInteresting that this guy is now also saying WT will be out first next spring. We'll see...
Funny thing about that video is the electric cord going under the truck. Were they afraid of losing charge while filming?Show trucks probably have an aux power in port there, or something. 😁
Well..., true. But it's kind of misleading to say that without specifying as to who can actually get them. The WT was always going to be first, but only for fleet buyers. Regular customers have to wait for the RST First Edition next fall, then other WT/RST trims the following spring
That's just a cord going to a battery tender for the 12V. All show vehicles have that... you see them all the time at car shows no matter the vehicle.Interesting that this guy is now also saying WT will be out first next spring. We'll see...

The dealer I have my reservation with says that's unlikely to be the case when the time comes, as GM stands to make much less profit on fleet sales. Dealer feels that they'll send WT trucks to normal sold order buyers next spring also. The WT was always going to be first, but only for fleet buyers. The dealer through which I reserved mine during the first 10 minutes on January 5th said they're excited for my early 2025 delivery. 🤦♂️ I'm not in a hurry, so that's fine, but still pretty ridiculous. It is what it is...Even with an early reservation it could be 12-24 months before delivery.
All I know is gas here in California is now $7 per gallon, and it took over $100 to fill the tank of my trash-azz 4-cylinder Volvo. ICE is not the future; and the faster I can move to EVs the better hah. My wife already has a Model 3 and loves it. I hate Tesla's interiors, and the EV6 is too small (can't fit a stroller + stuff) .. so I'm really looking forward to these EV trucks coming out.At the rate at which GM will finally start shipping EV trucks the market will be pretty crowded and highly competitive. I am not a fan of the Cyber Truck but sooner or later Tesla will start cranking them out. If Rivian survives the next few years they will have significant production capacity. Ford will be at high capacity and will incorporate new tech and features.
how did you miss the boat on rivian? They are still taking reservations…. I placed one on October 10th. And surprisingly it estimated a late 2023 delivery. All I know is gas here in California is now $7 per gallon, and it took over $100 to fill the tank of my trash-azz 4-cylinder Volvo. I missed the boat on Rivian. Sad.
If I’m waiting until end of 2023 or 2024 I’d rather have a Sierra or Cybertruck.I placed my preorder in I think it was March. My dealership estimated a 2024 delivery

Oh ok. I’ve just gone into the 2 of em thinking whichever comes first. If I’m waiting until end of 2023 or 2024 I’d rather have a Sierra or Cybertruck.
Toyota has zero EV strategy, nada, zilch. Even recently they were still talking up H2 and hybrids. Finally just a few weeks ago they admitted the obvious that they’re screwed - excuse me that ”senior leadership will convene and develop an EV plan” in January.Toyota, Ram and Honda will probably have something by 2024-2025 and one or more of them will probably be very competitive. Ford will also have learned a few things.
We only have GM’s word that their tech is superior, they certainly did not demonstrate that with the Volt/Bolt. Their tech is unproven and nothing more than marketing at present.Toyota has zero EV strategy, nada, zilch. Even recently they were still talking up H2 and hybrids. Honda is probably near bankruptcy or bailout - didn’t they just get a bailout? They’re in trouble, again they haven’t moved with the times.
RAM is supposedly working on a BEV truck. Late the party and they don’t have the deep R&D of GM. Not expecting much there personally, but the ICE fan-boys will be enamored no doubt.
Ford is working on a real EV architecture (they’re first! GM is on their third), supposed to be out in the 2025 Lightning. We’ll see. Whereas GM arch BEV1 (EV1) and BEV2 (Bolt) were both great architectures, and Ultium is the best of the best.
So anyhow I think it’ll just be GM, Ford, Rivian and that Cyber-thingy. GM has the best tech, Ford gets the love because for no reason I understand, Rivian looks interesting by like Tesla doesn’t have the deep pockets (or time!) to rearchitect. So really in my estimation as long as you like the features and styling GM is the best. I don’t see anybody else being relevant - except RAM is probably slamming something together and will get attention due to brand loyalty.
