A lot of my former colleagues work for Enphase engineering - or used to, I gather they got laid off a few years ago and it got outsourced. My solar is all Enphase too. Anyhow I like their stuff as an engineering solution but I think Enphase is too unstable a company to partner with, they’ve had many ups and downs. Too expensive also. SunPower looks like a great choice, solid technology company that’s been around a long time.

Main thing is if the can get it to us for cheap. $4k or whatever plus installation for the Lightning is too much, it’s basically a power transfer switch.

"GMC is expanding the charging capability of its Hummer EVs so that they can act as generators and send a charge to other electric vehicles.
The 2024 GMC Hummer EV pickup and SUV will be upgraded with standard 19.2-kilowatt Level 2 onboard charging capability on certain trims. The Hummer EV Edition 1 pickup available before the 2024 model year has 11.5-kW AC charging capacity.
The boost will give the Hummer EVs the ability to not only charge faster, but also offboard power for the first time through the Power Station generator — including the ability to send 6 kW of charge to other EVs, GMC says.
The capability and the 19.2-kW onboard charger will come standard on the 2024 vehicles in trims 2X and above, GMC said. The brand has said that includes the SUV's Edition 1, 3X and 2X trims and the pickup's 3X and 2X trims. A plug accessory to enable vehicle-to-vehicle charging will be an option, GMC said.
Before, "you could not effectively take power from the battery in this vehicle and put it into another vehicle. So in '24, we are enabling that," said Aaron Pfau, lead development engineer for Hummer EV. "The 19.2-kilowatt charger, Level 2 AC charger, that we have on board, that is really the key change that enables this."
GMC is offering a separate accessory to allow Hummer EVs to power equipment, such as a TV or heater, with 3 kW of juice."

@HawaiiEV needs to get one of these to figure out what happens if the 6kW export is landed on a home microgrid's generation panel. And, if common off-grid ESS controllers see the 240v from the BEV as just another generation source (such as solar or wind). For science!

This would be amazeballs if the on-board inverter of these Ultium trucks could provide 6 kW (25A) to a home. Many people have modest electrical needs. If 6 kW can come from a rolling 200 kWh battery pack as an augmentation to existing PV+ESS systems... this could mean grid defection for a lot of folks.

I’m excited to get one. There are already people using the lightning to manually charge their banks. The integrated, non transfer switch solution is what everyone wants and it’s coming. I don’t think the efficiency is there for anything other than emergency backup. I believe that’s what was discovered using the lightning for such an off grid solution.
