Very good question. I'm currently in talks with my electrician about getting a 240v outlet wired up in my garage. The question we're tossing around is amperage. 30 amps is easy, 60 amps is still easy but gets expensive, 80 amps becomes a whole new ballgame and now we're talking big $$$.

I wish there were more details about this truck. Hard to believe that they're continually saying that this truck will begin production in 9 months, and yet here we are with almost zero information on the technical details, especially for the WT trim which ironically is launching first.

Give how much money GM has invested in EVs and battery technology you'd think something like this would also be coming. I'd be surprised if they didn't offer their own home charging station.

We have 3 EnelX Juicebox 40 chargers that we’re pretty happy with. One was nearly free with a PUD subsidy.

the charger in the picture looks like the same one that comes with the Bolt EUV, a dualvoltage unit capable of 11.2kW, I think.

Well the Clipper Creek brand seems to be the most dependable and well built. But, they lack smart capability to communicate with a smartphone. I really think a smartphone app will be nice with this. A guy could monitor charge status from inside the house, etc. So I'm still looking around.

Keep in mind the truck will be able to communicate charging status to your phone through the myChevrolet app. I have found that the best way to minimize issues is let the vehicle do the "smart" things (scheduled charging, departure times, etc). A "dumb" EVSE works just as well, and you don't have to worry about conflicting programming preventing a charge.

I'm building a house right now, so while it was easy I had them put in 300a service and a 100a run into the garage for 19.2kw charging. When I get the truck I'll determine if I want to actually spend 2k on an EVSE or not though

Exactly…. I let my Bolt EV do all the charge scheduling To take advantage of reduced nighttime rates, and just check the charge level and estimated completion time with the app. My only complaint is from launching the app to getting the info I want takes about 40 seconds ….

Not really, just because I figure there will be different options when the time comes. I don't care about any smart features for the EVSE itself (I'll let the car handle that if I need it), but as the other poster mentioned I do want to take advantage of any V2H options.

80Amps will likely be overkill. The Onboard charger will limit the intake of kW. Unless the OBC is 19.2 kW for AC it’s a waste of money. Won’t charge any faster than what the vehicle can intake.
Most EVs limit at 7-11kW currently, which would make a 48A Charger the most cost efficient option.

I’m having a 240 V 50 amp circuit put in as that is what load my house can handle. Also, that was the recommendation of the electrician. Mine is going to be outside so I’ve been looking at the grizzl-e for charging if I need a charger but will probably just get the add on charger that comes with the vehicle. That charger in the picture looks like the one offered with the bolt ev but I have heard they are coming up with a station to charge from that stays at your house and is not portable like the bolt one.

I believe Ford’s EVSE requires a 100 amp breaker to send 80 amps to the vehicle, but it can also be down rated to a lower amperage.

We’ve got an enel-x juicebox installed outside that we had hard wired. I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving a plug in charger outside. If you are going with a plug in unit outside, remember that it will require a gfi breaker, which takes up quite a bit more space in the panel.

Is there a warranty issue for the type of charger you purchase to charge your bolt, bolt ev, silverado ev?

We have a ChargePoint hardwired outside for the wife’s car, I put it on an 70 amp breaker and is good for the full 50 amp charge. I’ll probably install the Chevy charger for the Silverado.
