So the Silverado is more powerful, can deliver more onboard power, can tow more, potentially has more range, has a bigger bed and has a similar MSRP to the Lightning.

That's hard to ignore for anyone looking at an electric truck that doesn't mind waiting a bit. It's too bad GM couldn't release this truck sooner.

Yeah those are some big selling points to me especially as someone that needs a work truck.
F-150 Lightning will be great for the masses and for those that are loyal to Ford.

Another that really appealed to me was the battery range can be extended to the full 400 miles in the WT version, Ford won't let anyone but fleet buyers do that with their pro version of the Lightning. Of note and to be fair, Ford's range estimates are with 1000lb payload, GM hasn't said how Silverados was calculated.

Has this been confirmed? I've seen a lot of speculation but nothing official from Ford detailing this. Also we don't know the true EPA range for either, so they are subject to change. Remember the Hummer went from "350+ estimated" to 329 officially.

According to the Lightning forum the 1000lb payload was confirmed. They seem to be pretty good about calling out incorrect information both good and bad for the truck, and this has been stated several times recently.

Until Ford confirms it directly I won't consider it "confirmed". If they did do that, then maybe unloaded you will get 325-340 miles, but it won't be the 480 something that someone thought they discovered in the infotainment system. Also, still waiting on the official numbers to see if they can hit the 300 estimated (with or without the 1000 lbs).

Agreed, I probably jumped the gun on the payload. There is no way it will be the 470 the Utube people are trolling on it, especially considering the size of the battery and it's aerodynamics.

According to one of the GMC Enginners on the Hummer, each 100 pounds of payload within the envelope only reduces range by 1 mile, so it is entirely possible that the "1000" lbs of payload in the passenger cabin only impacts range by ~10 miles and isn't particularly noteworthy, regardless of the F-150 rumors/claims

I wonder how that will impact sales of the Silverado EV.
Sales of EVs and pickups seem high enough to make it not much of a concern but I don't think we can be 100% sure.

I would guess it will be nearly moot by the end of the first quarter '23. Ford has already sold through over 150K qualifying vehicles. With the Edge PHEV, MME, and Lightning I could see them selling through the phase out limit pretty soon.

Should have it beat for efficiency too. I am surprised the Lightning is basically the same as the R1T though. Maybe the Silverado will be better aerodynamically (than the R1T) because it is lower, but that could be a wash with more frontal area due to the size.

On range, but with the 200kwh battery its going to weight more which could effect the MPGe. The Hummers MPGe it 47. I have a lighting on order, and an early reservation on the Silverado. Going to see how it shakes out, shouldn't loose anything if I trade it in for the Silverado.

RST(non-1st addition), I was not expecting to get an invite to convert an order on the Lighting, but couldn't turn it down for now. What I like most about the Silverado is the 800v for DC charging for longer trips and the pass through.

On the outside of the Lariat trim you will see full LED lighting, unique frunk trim, running boards, and power rear tailgate. On the inside there is a digital gauge display, 15in infotainment system, and two-tone interior. Powering the Lighting are (2) electric motors.
