Both the front and rear seats in the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV will be supplied by Lear, with both the front bucket seats and the rear bench seats set to be produced at the company’s new facility in Detroit. Lear designed the seat’s structure and adjustment mechanisms, along with the seating foam, trim, plastics and seatbelts.

The Lear-designed 40/60 split second-row seat in the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV offers four configurations, allowing users to fold the seats flat for added cargo capacity whilst also retaining one or two of the rear seats for passengers to sit in. The fold-flat second-row seat also combines with GM’s Multi-Flex Midgate, which collapses the bulkhead wall between the cabin and cargo space, expanding the bed surface area to just over 9 feet. The Silverado EV RST will also feature a unique second row with a tuck-and-tumble sequence, providing superior ergonomics for passengers when they are sitting in the bench seat.

Lear President and CEO Ray Scott said this partnership with GM is a continuation of its long-lasting relationship with the automaker. GM recognized Lear Corporation with a Supplier of the Year Award for the fourth consecutive year in 2021.

“With the most complete capabilities of any seating supplier in the world, Lear’s highly crafted, world-class seating solutions are helping Chevrolet reimagine its best-selling nameplate,” said Scott said. “We are honored to be named a General Motors’ Supplier of the Year for the last four years. Lear’s content on the Silverado EV is a continuation of the strong relationship we are proud to have with GM.”

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV will launch in the Work Truck (WT) trim level next spring. The Silverado EV RST First Edition will arrive shortly in the fall of 2023.
